EuMA is very pleased to bring you the first European Microwave Integrated Circuits (EuMIC) Conference which will be held from 10 to 13 September 2006 in Manchester, UK, as part of European Microwave Week. This new conference has evolved from the highly successful GAAS® symposia, maintaining the excellent traditions and atmosphere of the former GAAS® conference within the professional administration of European Microwave Week. This microwave circuits conference will continue to help make European Microwave Week the largest event in Europe related to RF microelectronics.

The development of RF and microwave devices has revolutionisedtoday’s telecommunication and sensor systems. UMTS, LMDS, and other systems working in the microwave and millimetre-wave range will facilitate totally new services. In such a swiftly changing environment, it is essental to be informed about current state-of-the-art technology, especially the latest developments. EuMIC will continue from GAAS® as one of the leading conferences for RFICs and their applications in Europe, and therefore the ideal event to keep up to date with the latest achievements in the field. The aim of the conference is to promote the discussion of recent developments and trends, and encourage the exchange of scientific and technical information on physical fundamentals, material technology, process development and technology, physics-based and empirical-behavioural modelling of microwave and opto-electronic active devices, design of monolithic ICs based on GaAs, InP, SiGe, GaN, SiC and other semiconductor materials. Special emphasis will be given to applications covering the field of telecommunications (RF, microwave and optical), automotive, sensors, MEMS, military and space, as well as emerging technologies such as wide band gap semiconductors.

Submission of Summaries

Summaries should be submitted by uploading a pdf-file (portable document format) to the EuMW2006 website: www.eumw2006.com. The Technical Programme Committee will review each summary. For topics common to two conferences as indicated in the topic lists, the decision about acceptance of the paper will be taken jointly by both Technical Programme Committees. However, each summary must be submitted to only one conference, selected by the author(s).

The summary should be in English, typed single space, and be either 2 or 3 pages long, including figures and diagrams. The summary must begin with the title, author’s name, affiliation and full address (including phone, fax and e-mail). It should include an abstract, a brief conclusion, and emphasise what is novel. Refer to the website for further details on evaluation criteria. One author information form per paper must be completed at the EuMW2006 website when uploading the summary.

Submissions by hard copy, fax or e-mail cannot be accepted. For further details on the electronic submission process please refer to the information given at www.eumw2006.com.

The deadline for submission of summaries is 10 February 2006. Late submissions cannot be considered.

Conference Highlights

Over 100 papers will be presented with contributions from Europe, Asia and USA. Papers and posters will be made available on CD-ROM in the Conference Proceedings. Lively industrial panel sessions will also be organised. Keynote speakers from industry and the scientific community will present invited papers on topics of current importance. Tailored Short Courses and Workshops will complement the programme.
